Leading from the front is a good way to get yourself promoted, a medal, the admiration of your men … or killed. The Combat Commander tournament will give you the opportunity to display these leadership qualities. This year the tourney will explore the intensifying growth of the world conflict as competitors will command their troops in battle situations in 1943 as we continue the multi-year tournament within the tournament. At the conclusion of each year's action I will rank each player based upon wins and losses. Succeeding WBC tournaments will see the year of conflict advance by one year, until the end of the war is reached in 2018. Over the course of those years (aka 1940-1945) I will continue the competitor ranking for each year. At the conclusion of the campaign I will compile a final ranking of all tournament competitors from beginning to end. The highest ranked competitor will win a special prize and be referred to in hushed tones as The Leader of Men.

The 2016 CBC tournament will feature scenarios from the European Theater for the year 1943. You are in command and the troops await your Orders.

The Swiss Elimination format continues this year. There will be four qualifying Swiss rounds (play in as many or few as you wish, but the less you play, the less your chances to advance) that will advance four players to semifinal Single Elimination play. Starting with the first round, each match will give players a scenario to play. There will be a different scenario for use in each game of the first round. The scenarios for this year's event are all custom designed scenarios highlighting the increasing presence of Americans on the battlefield. This year's event will require the use of CC:E and CC:Med. Any additional components used in the tournament not included in those modules will be provided by the GM. Tourney participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring other CBC components (ie. CC:Pacific, CC:Resistance or Battlepacks).

The tiebreakers for advancement will be as follows:

1) Each tied player will be awarded advancement points for their winning games based upon the following formula:
Won as attacker-2 pts
Win in a Recon scenario-1.5 pts
Won as defender-1 pt
Margin of Victory:
1-3VPs-1 pt
4-7VPs-2 pts
8-12VPs-3 pts
13+VPs-4 pts
Surrender Victory-3 pts (No Margin of Victory points are awarded with a Surrender victory)

The four players with the highest advancement points will advance to the Single Elimination semifinal Round.

2) If players remain tied after the calculation of advancement points, a coin flip will be used to determine player finishing order.

Additional Prizes: The GM will be providing a framed Combat Commander poster signed by Rodger MacGowan with an unspecified prize for the runner-up. GMT will provide merchandise credits to all plaque winners.
