In Evolution, players create and adapt their own species in a dynamic ecosystem with hungry predators and limited resources. Only the strong survive. Traits like Hard Shell and Horns protect your species from Carnivores, while a Long Neck helps your species get food others cannot reach. With over 800 different species to create, Evolution has strong replayability and deep strategy. Experience millions of years of evolution in just one hour!

Beginners are welcome. There will be two scheduled demos so new players can learn the game. Players may enter multiple heats. All games will be 4-player games if possible. 5-player games will be used only when necessary.

Advancement to the semifinal will be determined using the following HMW/G format: 1) Most wins; 2) Player-ratings averaged over the two best heats of each player. The player rating for each heat is computed as the fraction of total points per game scored by a player, multiplied by the number of players in the game (to normalize for player count).

There will be 16 players advancing to the semifinals. The winners of the four semifinal games will advance to a 4-person Final. The semifinal tables will be seeded based upon performance during the four heats. The top four qualifiers will be placed into Group A, positions 5 through 8 into Group B, positions 9 through 12 into Group C and positions 13 through 16 into Group D. One qualifier from each Group will be drawn randomly and placed at each semifinal table. All ties during the tournament will be resolved first by most trait points scored and if there is still a tie, by most population points scored. If there is still a tie, it will be broken by a coin toss.

KEEPING NOTES ON GAMES: On the GM provided game record, players should make notes about the distinguishing features of their individual games so the GM will be able to record the noteworthy events for the WBC yearbook entry.

Additional Prizes: The tournament champion will receive a brontosaurus start meeple hand-painted by internationally renowned nature artist Catherine Hamilton, the same artist who did all of the art for the game. Finalists will receive surprise goodies.
