Why
an Auction? Ever since its inception, WBC has been about competition
and playing games without the distractions of such things as flea
markets and seminars. Why change now? Well, we haven’t. By
extending WBC to six full days and holding the auction during the
hours preceding the start of WBC-proper on Tuesday evening, we get
to have our cake and eat it too without detracting from tournaments.
It allows
us to provide
a service to our members who want to sell or buy long-out-of-print games
at what is perhaps the largest gathering of the players of those games
on the planet without having to go the eBay route of shipping and sight
unseen purchases. What better place to acquire these games than amongst
our annual reunion of friends at WBC in an entertaining auction
without missing any tournaments?
Staff: In
2008, welcome back auctioneers Bruce Reiff, Ken Gutermuth and Keith Hunsinger
and the
entire CABS crew for another splendid
and entertaining afternoon of buying and selling boardgames.
WBC changes Auction Store to PRE-REGISTERED items in 2008.
It opens at 9:30 a.m. and closes at 4 p.m. It’s
like a flea market, except sellers do not need to supervise the
selling because BPA runs
the entire shebang to allow you to pay attention
to the Auction or play games. It increases the number of items
the BPA can sell, while providing a cost-effective way and efficient
way to sell lower-value items. Plus, everyone has the chance
to accomplish more “shopping” in
less time, since it will be possible to peruse the
Store while the Auction is ongoing within
earshot and bidding range. Only items listed at $30 or lower
may be listed in the Auction store. It is necessary to pre-register all items for the Auction Store by completing and submitting the Auction Store Seller Registration Form (download in Excel or PDF) and Auction
Store Item Sheets (download
in Word or PDF). A fee of 25 cents per item is due
when you deliver the items on-site. IMPORTANT: Review the details
of both the auction and auction store before deciding where to
submit your items.
Advance Registration: Sellers must register both their auction and auction store Lots in advance. There is a limit on the number of Lots that will be sold in the Auction. See Auction Seller Information for details on how to register Lots.
