In Evolution, players create and adapt their own species in a dynamic ecosystem with hungry predators and limited resources. Only the strong survive. Traits like Hard Shell and Horns protect your species from Carnivores, while a Long Neck helps your species get food others cannot reach. With over 800 different species to create, Evolution has strong replay ability and deep strategy. Experience millions of years of evolution in just one hour!

Beginners are welcome. There will be three scheduled demos so new players can learn the game as well as the new Evolution Climate version. Players may enter multiple heats. Two heats are required to be eligible for advancement into the semifinals. All games in the heats will be 4-player games if possible.

Advancement to the semifinals will be determined using the following HMWG format: 1) Most wins; 2) Player-ratings averaged over the two best heats of each player. The player rating for each heat is computed as the fraction of total points per game scored by a player, multiplied by the number of players in the game (to normalize for player count). For instance, if a player scored 26 points in a game where 100 total points were scored, that player’s rating would be .26 x4 = 1.04.
There will be 20 players advancing to the semifinals. The semifinal tables will be seeded based upon performance during the four heats. The top four qualifiers will be placed into Group A, positions 5 through 8 into Group B, positions 9 through 12 into Group C, positions 13 through 16 into Group D, and positions 17-20 in Group E. One qualifier from each Group will be drawn randomly and placed at each semifinal table. All ties during the tournament will be resolved first by most trait points scored and if there is still a tie, by most population points scored. If there is still a tie, it will be broken by a coin toss. The winners of the four semifinal games will advance to a 4-person Final.

The Final will be played with Evolution Climate. Demos will be run of Climate along with any scheduled Evolution demos. It will also be briefly explained right before the Final. It is really not that much more complicated than Evolution so it only takes a couple of minutes to explain.

KEEPING NOTES ON GAMES: On the GM provided game record, players should make notes about the distinguishing features of their individual games so the GM will be able to record the noteworthy events for the WBC event report.
Additional Prizes: Anyone who enters the tournament will get a pack of a promotional Evolution trait. Finalists get another pack of an exclusive trait. The tournament champion will receive a red T-Rex start player meeple.
