2019 Tournament Format HMW

Tin Goose is a game in which players compete to build an airline business at the dawn of commercial aviation.

Players seek to buy planes, build networks and manage disruptive events more efficiently than their competition.

The WBC tournament for Tin Goose offers three heats for players looking to qualify for the semifinal and final rounds. We will attempt to sort the players randomly into four player games in each of the heats (although the GM reserves the right to have other player counts as necessary). The heats, semifinal and final are all scheduled for three hour time slots which should offer enough time for all to finish comfortably. Reminders will be given by the GM for games that seem to be in danger of exceeding the time limit and games will be adjudicated if they are obviously going to exceed the time limit. (We will do everything in our power to avoid adjudication) . The main goal of the GM is to run a fun and competitive tournament. If you witness any unsportsmanlike behavior, please alert the GM immediately and he will make every effort to resolve the issue.

16 players will advance to the semifinal round. The criteria for advancement to the semifinals will be as follows:
  1. Most wins
  2. If there is a tie for players with the same number of heat wins. The tiebreaker will be the player with whose score exceeds the second place score by the greatest percentage in their best heat (i.e. the player whose score divided by the score of his closest competitor yields the highest quotient).
  3. The second place finishers with the highest percentage of the winner's score in their best heat.
  4. The other non-winners with the highest percentage of the winner's score in their best heat.

The semifinal tables will be seeded based on standings from heats. The final will follow immediately after the semifinal round with the top four players competing.

Designer Matt Calkins will offer a demo of the game. He will also be on hand throughout the tournament for assistance.

Additional Prizes: The designer Matt Calkins has volunteered to provide prizes. Last year these consisted of copies of the game itself. Previous years had seen aviation themed materials.
