2019 Tournament Format  Swiss Elim

The old classic WATERLOO again offers a finely balanced contest with lots of maneuvering, attacking, and defending by both sides (French & Prussian Anglo- Allied). The open play format allows maximum flexibility for scheduling over the course of the tournament with the 4 semi-finalists decided on Friday morning based on the week's play. Newcomers are welcome as game mechanics are simple and extremely easy to reacquire for those who played in earlier years.

Rule modifications over the last 50+ years have resulted in incredible play balance. The following rule modifications are in effect with a more detailed explanation, revised Combat Results Table (CRT), and a new 10 sided die available at the tournament.

  1. Second edition rules are in effect.
  2. The 10 sided die CRT is the default for game use.
  3. A 7 PM turn has been added to each day and the game length is 28 turns 16 to 19 June.
  4. Prussian and Anglo-Allied units may not stack together nor attack the same French units(s).
  5. Prussian and Anglo-Allied units may move through each other with no penalty.
  6. If an attack or French exit of units off the board results in all PAA units being eliminated/defected, then this is considered a French victory.
  7. The Hanoverian Infantry brigade (Wissel - British Army) normally scheduled to arrive at 0900, 16 June will instead arrive at 0700, 18 June with the rest of the Hanoverian Reserve Corps. Come join us for your chance to change the course of history!!
