7 Wonders Duel is a two-player version of the classic drafting game 7 Wonders. Players will take turns drafting from a tableau over three Ages, acquiring cards that provide resources or advance their military or scientific development to develop a civilization and complete wonders. Players can win by achieving dominance in either military or science, or by scoring the most points at the end of the game.
There will be a new format for 7 Wonders Duel in 2022, similar to the format used for Lost Cities. For this event there will be two heats, followed by a continuous single elimination knockout round. During each heat all players will play two games and a player may play in one or both heats. Any player that wins at least two games during the heats will advance to the knockout round.
No expansion content will be used for this event, only the base game components. Throughout the heats, family members will be separated unless it is impossible to avoid.
Prior to the knockout round, all advancing players will be ranked according to the following formula:
- Most wins
- Most wins by dominance
- Average percentage in all civilian wins (your score / opponents score)
- Average percentage in all civilian losses (your score / opponents score)
This formula will be used to award any byes necessary if the number of advancing players is less than a power of 2. All players not receiving byes will be seeded randomly in the bracket. If no byes are awarded, the top four players from the heats will be seeded away from one another before filling the rest of the bracket.
For any games ending tied on points, ties will be broken by the following:
- Most victory points on Civilian buildings (Blue)
- Most coins remaining after spending coins for points (the remainder after dividing by 3)
- Strongest Military
- Most Science symbols (this would include the Law progress token)
- Most Wonders built
- The player who went 2nd to start the game
Please bring a copy of the game! It is highly likely that players will be turned away due to an insufficient number of copies. Bringing a copy of the game will guarantee your spot.
