2023 Tournament Format  Heats Most Wins - Points

In Ark Nova, you plan and build a modern, scientifically managed zoo. You build enclosures according to the animals’ way of life and support conservation projects to ensure the preservation of animal species. Gathering diverse animals increases the attractiveness of your zoo, advancing you on the Appeal track and generating higher revenues. Likewise, careful stewardship of the animals allows you to support conservation projects, such as breeding programs, which lead to your advancement on the Conservation track and corresponding bonuses. These two tracks progress in opposite directions – if your counters meet, the game ends. Whoever achieves the best combination of appeal and conservation has built the most successful zoo and wins the game.

For the heats, zoo maps and turn order will be determined randomly. For the semifinals and finals, maps will be dealt to each seat, turn order determined, and then players will bid for seats. We will play 4-player games as much as possible, including in the semifinals and finals.

If the event draws at least 128 unique players, a quarterfinal round will be held

Advancement to the semifinal (or quarterfinal if player count is met) will ust the Heats Most Wins – Points Standard Tiebreakers.

HEATS: MOST WINS - POINTS (HMW-P):

  1. Most Wins (e.g., total in all heats entered)
  2. Total Points – Players earn the following pints in each heat they entered:
    • 1st Place - 1,000 points
    • 2nd Place - 100 points
    • 3rd Place - 10 points
    • 4th Place - 1 points
    • All other places - 0 points
    • e.g. player has a 1st, 2nd, and 4th in three heats: total points would be 1,101
  3. GM Specific Tie-breaker - None Specified
  4. High dice roll.
