2023 Tournament Format Heats Most Wins - Points

Scythe looks like a multiplayer wargame, but plays like a Euro. The game presents multiple paths to victory, and past WBC winners have employed strategies including never leaving their home areas to roaming the board in search of trouble.

In all rounds, players will be allowed to choose between the base map and the modular map, to the fullest extent possible. If it is impossible to seat each player at their preferred map, the majority of players at the table will get their preference, with the base map winning unresolvable ties. Players will then bid on which factions they want (Vegas Showdown style) in half-point increments. Bids will be deducted from player scores at the end of the game.

Heats will advance up to 25 to the Semifinal using the Heats Most Wins – Points standard tiebreakers. Semifinal winners will advance to the Final

HEATS: MOST WINS - POINTS (HMW-P):

  1. Most Wins (e.g., total in all heats entered)
  2. Total Points – Players earn the following pints in each heat they entered:
    • 1st Place - 1,000 points
    • 2nd Place - 100 points
    • 3rd Place - 10 points
    • 4th Place - 1 points
    • All other places - 0 points
    • e.g. player has a 1st, 2nd, and 4th in three heats: total points would be 1,101
  3. GM Specific Tie-breaker - None Specified
  4. High dice roll.
