2023 Tournament Format  Heats Most Wins - Points

America in the 19th century: railroads are booming!

Pioneer spirit and vision are everywhere. Everyone wants to be the first to build a railroad network across the country. Each player has five cities and tries to connect them with a shared network of tracks. As soon as a player has done this, the round ends. The other players lose points. At the end of the game, the player who has the most points left is the winner! Who will be the first to connect his cities? Is it Casey, who was the first to build through the mountains to the west? Or Annie, who was the one who best made use of the others' tracks?

A quick playing event for the rest of us on get away day while the lucky ones play in their final matches. Trans America is the simplest of the train games at WBC. Trans Europa can be played instead with unanimous consent of all players in each group.

Will try to keep 5 players per game for the Semifinal and Final.

Up to 25 players (no more than half the entrants) advance to the Semifinal using the Heats Most Wins Points standard tiebreakers

The GM will be playing and will have two assistant GMs identified.

House Rule: Each player will begin a round exactly once in each game.

HEATS: MOST WINS - POINTS (HMW-P):

  1. Most Wins (e.g., total in all heats entered)
  2. Total Points – Players earn the following pints in each heat they entered:
    • 1st Place - 1,000 points
    • 2nd Place - 100 points
    • 3rd Place - 10 points
    • 4th Place - 1 points
    • All other places - 0 points
    • e.g. player has a 1st, 2nd, and 4th in three heats: total points would be 1,101
  3. GM Specific Tie-breaker - Fewest total points behind first place in best second place finishes.
  4. High dice roll.
