Quirky Quarks transforms the world of particle physics into an exciting, fast paced strategy game. During five rounds of play, players compete for particles to complete quests, developing powerful abilities that offer an edge on opponents. In bidding to do research at the five particle accelerators, each scientist gets to take part in the thrill of discovery. Each player must balance pushing their own research forward whilst sabotaging opponents to make sure they do not make an astounding discovery. Fast and furious auctions ensure that the player who wants something the most actually gets it, though they may have to pay a dear price. Such is the nature of research!

You can learn Quirky Quarks at the demo, watching the rules at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pcRUmHIGyI, or playing online at BoardGameArena.

Heats will be 3-player games, with 4-player games as needed.

Advancement to the Semifinal will be based on the Heats Most Wins – Points Standard Tie-breakers listed below.

The Semifinal/Final format will depend on the total attendance and number of winners present at the Semifinal, and the top seeds will be seated at different tables:

  • If 32+ players attend the tournament and 13+ winners appear for the Semifinal, four 4-player games will be played with Semifinal winners advancing to a 4-player Final
  • If 24+ players attend the tournament and 10+ winners appear, four 3-player games will be played with Semifinal winners advancing to a 4-player Final
  • If 18+ players attend the tournament and 7+ winners appear, three 3-player games will be played with Semifinal winners advancing to a 3-player Final
  • If 12+ players attend the tournament and 5+ winners appear, two 3-player games will be played with Semifinal winners plus the closest 2nd place by % advancing to a 3-player Final.
  • In case of a tie, advancement will be determined by heat standings.
  • Otherwise, the Final will be played immediately among the top 4
  • Additional Prizes: The GM will provide freebies (such as stickers and magnets) for all participants, with better prizes for winners!
