Somewhere in England

Airfields around the English countryside, pilots waited, hoping for a milk run and not going into the gauntlet of the German Luftwaffe. The commander pulls the curtain and announces…

“THE MISSION FOR TODAY IS….”

B-17, Queen of the Sky's tournament uses actual missions that the Eighth Air Force made during WWII. Using a scoring system unique to WBC, players try to bomb targets over Europe in hopes of accruing a top score after three missions. One of the draws to the tournament is that only a few people actually know where the missions are going. Like the pilots of the Eighth, they are sometimes surprised as to where and how difficult the mission will be.

Going through Flak Alley (St. Nazaire, France), the industrial heartland of Germany (Bremen, Germany), or the U-Boat pens (Hamburg, Germany) are some of the targets that people in the tournament were either successful in reaching, bomb, and return with minimal casualties. Or their plane ended up going down in flames somewhere over Europe, with all hands lost.

Not only are people competing for wood, as a six-person squadron they are trying to have their name on plaques put on a perpetual trophy for the “best” or “worst” squadron for the missions. All results from the missions will be announced at the After Action Report meeting which will be held in the Foggy Bottom.
