The Tradition Continues!!

The perfect way to wind down after a week of fighting wars! Or your chance to get some fighting in after a week of Euros! Battle Cry has been a Saturday tradition at WBC since 2001.

Please bring a copy of the game! It has been out of print for some time, so we need players to bring copies if at all possible.

All matches will consist of two games; each player will play the battle as the Union and the Confederacy. Thus, there will be no bidding for sides. Given time constraints, each game will have a time limit of 55 minutes. At the end of 55 minutes, the current turn will be the last turn if the current turn belongs to the second player. If it is the first players turn, the second player will be a final turn (so that each player has had the same number of turns).

If your opponent is consistently playing slowly during a match, please politely remind them of the time limit. If the problem persists, please alert the GM or AGM of the issue. Please note that one of the tiebreakers is total flags – thus, it is in your best interest to play quickly to win as many flags as possible.

If one player wins both games, they will advance to the next round. If each player wins once the winner will be determined as follows:

  1. the player capturing the most total flags across both games
  2. if tied, the player killing the most figures across both games
  3. if still tied, decided by a die roll (most sabers on 6 dice).

If the final tie breaker is needed for only one match, both players may advance if there are an odd number of players for the next round.

Winners of the Mulligan Round are eligible to advance to Round 2 for single elimination play. If you lose the mulligan, you can try again in Round 1 which will use the same scenario as the mulligan.

The tentative battle scenarios are the following:

  • Round 1 and Mulligan: Second Bull Run
  • Round 2: Glorietta Pass **
  • Round 3: Murfreesboro
  • Round 4: First Bull Run
  • Semifinal: Yellow Tavern **
  • Final: Shiloh

The scenarios can be found in the 2nd Edition Rulebook, with the exception of the battles with **. These can be found on the www.Commandandcolors.net website, or you can send the GM an email and he will get them to you.

The second edition of Battle Cry will be the default edition for the tournament, but efforts will be made to accommodate owners of the first edition, particularly in the early rounds.

If at any point there is an odd number of players, an eliminated player will be asked to play again as an eliminator. If there are 3 players left at the end, the top seeded player (by total wins, total flags, and then total figures eliminated) will play the eliminator. If the eliminator wins, the other Semifinal becomes the Final, and the winner of that Semifinal game will be the champion.

If both players agree, the time limit may be eliminated for the Final round at the GM’s discretion.

Places after the top 2 will be determined by round eliminated, total number of wins (including only Round 1 or the mulligan), total number of flags, and figure differential.
