America in the 19th century: railroads are booming!

Pioneer spirit and vision are everywhere. Everyone wants to be the first to build a railroad network across the country. Each player has five cities and tries to connect them with a shared network of tracks. As soon as a player has done this, the round ends. Who will be the first to connect his cities? Is it Casey, who was the first to build through the mountains to the west? Or Annie, who was the one who best made use of the others' tracks?

A quick playing event for the rest of us on getaway day while the lucky ones play in their final matches. Trans America is the simplest of the train games at WBC. Trans Europa can be played instead with unanimous consent of all players in each group.

Tournament will try to keep 5 players per game for the Semifinal and Final.

Advancement Criteria for the 25 players who will play in the Semifinal will use the Heats Most Wins-Points standard Tiebreakers with a GM specific Tiebreaker (listed below)

The GM will be playing and will have two AGM’s identified.

House Rules Each player will begin a round exactly once. Scoring will be reversed from the rules in the game. The first player to connect 5 cities scores zero points and everyone else scores a positive score of the tracks needed to connect their remaining cities (zero for additional players who also connect all 5 cities). The winner of the game will be the player with the lowest total score after all players have begun a round once.

HEATS: MOST WINS - POINTS (HMW-P):

  1. Most Wins (e.g., total in all heats entered)
  2. Total Points – Players earn the following pints in each heat they entered:
    • 1st Place - 1,000 points
    • 2nd Place - 100 points
    • 3rd Place - 10 points
    • 4th Place - 1 points
    • All other places - 0 points
    • e.g. player has a 1st, 2nd, and 4th in three heats: total points would be 1,101
  3. GM Specific Tie-breaker - Fewest total points behind first place in best second place finishes.
  4. High dice roll.
