Ticket to Ride is a series of stand-alone railroad building games designed by Alan R. Moon and published by Days of Wonder. The rules are easy to learn and each game is tight with delightful tension over how to build in order to connect your cities.
Tournament Rules:
We play 4-player games, with 3-player games as needed.
The default game in the Heats is the original Ticket to Ride (USA). We also offer TTR Europe or the USA 1910 Mega-Game for those who prefer those versions. We randomly issue players seating/turn order cards as they check in. Before each game, check that you have exactly 45 trains in your color. The number of train cars, train cards and destination tickets you have is public knowledge.
If two or more players tie in a game the tie breakers will be most tickets made, then ticket score, then route score, then longest train and if they are still tied with win will go to the player with the later turn order.
The game winner is responsible for turning in the score sheet, with the information filled in, at the end of each Heat.
New in 2024: The tournament will be using the Heats Most Wins – Timing Standard Tie-breakers for advancement. This is the new format for those that prefer to play the minimum number of games and still advance in the event.
Quarterfinals:
Advancement to the Quarterfinal will be determined by the Heats Most Wins - Timing Standard Tie-breakers listed below. If fewer than 64 show up, byes into the Semifinal will be awarded to players with the best qualifying points in the Heats to make the numbers come out even, perhaps with the help of a few 3-player games. If more than 64 show up, the 64 with the best qualifying records play in the Quarterfinal.
Players are seeded to tables in the Quarterfinal based on qualifying record.
Qualifying record is determined using the Heats Most Wins Timing. Note last year we did not have enough winners come to Quarterfinal to fill all 64 spots. If you win a heat always show up at the Quarterfinal. Only players that have won a game will be advanced to the Quarters.
Semifinal and Final:
The Quarterfinal winners will play four 4-player games (there may be some 3-player games if Quarterfinal winners fail to show up for the Semifinal). The Semifinal will use the Ticket to Ride USA 1910 Mega-Game.
The winners of the Semifinal will advance to the Final using the Ticket to Ride USA 1910 Mega-Game.
