Battle Line is a card-based game from GMT Games. It is best described as Alexander the Great meets three-card poker, without the betting. It plays fast at 20-30 minutes a game. We typically get 50-70 players, of all skill levels. You’re guaranteed to play at least 3 games, and most people are done in 2 hours. Come join us!

If you would like to practice, BGA has a game “Schotten Totten” that is almost the same. The only difference that is not cosmetics is that in Battle Line the cards range from 1-10, but in Schotten Totten they go from 1-9. The Battle Line version is better for lots of reasons- feel free to ask if you want a rant.

About the tournament:

Play will be Round Robin in 4-player groups for the first round so that all players get to (and must) play a minimum of three games. The group winners then advance to single elimination play immediately afterwards. The whole tournament will be done in one night.A few notes:

• If you come to play, you are playing for the entire first round of three games, which is two hours long, win or lose. You cannot drop out in the middle of a round - at least not if you ever expect to play again. However, you are not obligated to advance if you are eligible to do so
• Each group of 4 players will play 3 round robin games against each other. The best record from each group will advance to the single-elimination bracket
• We will be using the Advanced Rule found on page 4 of the rulebook. You can only claim a battle flag at the START of your turn. (This is “Expert Mode” in Schotten Totten on BGA)
• Guile Tactics cards cannot be used to alter the play of an Environmental Tactics card (Official GMT Ruling)
• Minimal record keeping is required of entrants
