Game Description

Play this beloved cult classic to see how your Egyptian kingdom rolls out.

Ra: The Dice Game is a simple game themed along the lines of Ra the auction game with Monuments, Pharaohs, Rivers, Civilizations, and Floods. However, the play style is something more like Yahtzee instead. Each player rolls five dice and has up to two rerolls to use to try to improve their result. The game takes place over 3 eras, and the one with the highest score at the end wins the game.

Each table will have 4 players. If necessary, some tables will have only 3 players.

Any ties in the Heats will result in multiple winners. For example, if the scores are 40, 40, 35, 30 there would be two winners, a third place, and a fourth place finish.

Ties in the Quarterfinal, Semifinal, or Final will be resolved by reverse turn order. For example, imagine the turn order was (1) Tess, (2) Arun, (3) Michael, and (4) Molly. If Molly and Arun tie for highest score, Molly would win the tie breaker with a turn order of 4.

Advancement

Only heat winners will advance to the Quarterfinal with a maximum of 64 players advancing.

If there are more than 64 unique Heat winners, advancement will be based on player records ranked using the Heats Most Wins – Points standard tie-breakers with GM specific tie-breakers listed below.

If fewer than 64 unique Heat winners show up for the Quarterfinal, byes will be granted to the Semifinal. Byes will be distributed to players with the highest ranking based on the Tie-breakers listed below

Semifinal and Final

Sixteen winners and/or bye-recipients from the Quarterfinal will advance to Semifinal. The 4 winners of the Semifinal will advance to the Final.

Fifth & Sixth Place

Overall tournament finishes of 5th and 6th place will be based on “coattails.” The player who finished 2nd in the Semifinal to the 1st place tournament finisher will be awarded 5th place. The player who finished 2nd in the Semifinal to the 2nd place tournament finisher will be awarded 6th place.

For example, imagine tournament winners were 1st Lisa, 2nd Chris, 3rd Bowen, and 4th Tina. Then, 5th place would be the player who came in 2nd to Lisa in the Semifinal, and 6th would be the player who came in 2nd to Chris in the Semifinal.

HEATS: MOST WINS - POINTS (HMW-P):

  1. Most Wins (e.g., total in all heats entered)
  2. Total Points – Players earn the following pints in each heat they entered:
    • 1st Place - 1,000 points
    • 2nd Place - 100 points
    • 3rd Place - 10 points
    • 4th Place - 1 points
    • All other places - 0 points
    • e.g. player has a 1st, 2nd, and 4th in three heats: total points would be 1,101
  3. GM Specific Tie-breaker:
    1. If tied players did not win all heats: Smallest average margin of defeat in all heats the players did not win
    2. If tied players won all heats: Largest average margin of victory in all heats the players won
  4. High dice roll.
