After twenty years as a free-form tournament, Superstar Baseball 2026 will run as a scheduled tournament with the first Heat commencing immediately after the Draft.

Managers who miss the draft can still play in the second Heat with team selection from the remaining pool on a first-come, first-served basis. You may also still use draft proxies, though with the first Heat now commencing immediately after the Draft, there should be fewer proxies.

As for the game itself, Superstar Baseball is part of the series of Sports Illustrated Avalon Hill dice and chart games that's easy to pick up. Each manager assembles a line-up and pitching rotation, both of which are free to change between games. So, baseball fans (or if you just like to roll dice) who are interested can come by the demo (or learn from a veteran) and see where nine innings of dice rolling get you. Soon, you'll be swinging for the fences (or dealing heat from the mound) in no time.

Experienced players can often finish a doubleheader in 90 minutes, so we will attempt to get three doubleheaders for each manager in 4 hours or less, with the goal for all managers to reach our standard six games. This also means players no longer need to concern themselves about too many games against the same opponent. To facilitate scheduling, extra inning heat games will add the free runner on 2b starting in the 12th inning. Playoffs will not utilize this rule.

As usual. tally sheets and optional line-up sheets will be available during the draft and at the kiosk, afterwards. Turn in your tally sheet after completing each doubleheader; we will return them to you after announcing match-ups.

Four managers will advance from each heat, so there will no longer be any wild cards. Tie-breakers will be head-to-head, run differential, and total runs against.

Managers who advance in Heat 1 are free to play in Hea 2, with your best record in either heat determining playoff seeding. This means it is possible that alternates from Heat 1 may have a chance to advance. Managers who plan to advance should provide phone and any potential scheduling conflicts to the GM or Assistant GM before leaving the Heat.

Superstar Baseball Specific Rules

• Please bring your Superstar Baseball special dice with you. There will be dice available for use in the sports room. These should NOT leave the room.
• As all match-ups are doubleheaders, you may roll for home team or any other method the two managers agree on. Obviously, switch home for the second game.
• As a general rule, there is no DH; we want to encourage roster moves rather than just having one starting pitcher ace dominate the entire game. However, reality dictates that 2022 saw the universal DH (boo!), so if both teams are from 2022 going forward or in the AL after interleague began in 1997, they may use the DH if both managers agree.
• Pitchers can start every third game. (Three man rotation) Starting pitchers must sit for the next two games
• Relief pitchers can pitch a maximum of five innings per game. They must sit out the next game after they pitch, regardless of how many innings they pitched
• TIRE ratings should be checked for starters the inning after they give up a hit or unintentional walk. For relief pitchers, check the rating after the first batter faced
• Relief pitchers regain their second wind by rolling the 2W number or lower
• Injuries are only for the current game
• Players in Right and Left Field must have a defensive rating as an OF
