First there was Elchfest ...
and then the late night, silly, simple, quick, dexterity games
were here to stay at WBC. Here comes another.
This entry from Valley Games is a fast paced game of driving
through a forest and swerving to miss the wildlife. The game
consists of a small rbber squeaky car and 112 cards each bearing
an animal image in a particular color. Players simultaneously
try to match either the animal or the color (a la Crazy 8s)
to those they have already avoided. When three of the same color
or animal appear at the same time, hit the squeaky car to Beep!
Beep! your horn and get them out of the way.
The player who avoids the most animals wins.
Beep! Beep! is an excellent game for tournament play
as one hour is more than enough to complete the five rounds of
best out of five matches. In tournament play, players check their
opponent's pile at the end of a match to ensure that each card
was placed fairly. Simply take the opponent's smallest pile and
deal the cards face up on to the table - beginning with the botom
card. This will allow you to follow the order that the cards
were placed on the pile and quickly confirm that the animal color
or type matched each time. If a discrepancy is found, simply
deduct two points for the card in question and continue checking
from that card assuming it was correct.
GM Jenna Sunderlin will also
offer a Juniors tournament of the game on Thursday at 7 PM in
the Heritage room. See http://www.boardgamers.org/yearbkex/jnrpge.htm |
