You sank my battleship ...
Come join us for the Naval War tournament. This fast
and furious multi-player game combines the luck of the draw,
skill at bluff and bluster, and a not-always-obvious requirement
to really stop and think before playing that next card - if you
want to win.
The event takes place on Saturday evening in order to attract
a larger audience looking for a warm-up gaming experience, as
well as hopefully attracting a higher caliber of competition
among the more serious gamers present. Though a simple and fun
game, playing with "cowboys" who don't really care
about the outcome but are just determined to wreak havoc with
whomever happens to attract their attention really diminishes
the experience for many more mature players.
A few important notes:
- No optional rules will be used.
- When you conduct a destroyer squadron attack, the roll that
you make for that attack constitutes your entire turn.
- Second (or lower) place finishers advancing to the final round
will be determined by the difference between their score and
the winning score at that table. Example - at your table, the
winner had 77 points and you had 73. Your difference is 4. At
another table, the winner had 89 and the second place finisher
had 78. The difference there is 11. You would have priority in
advancing to the Final. This system rewards people who come closest
to winning their table rather than those who happen to be at
a table that requires an extra hand or two to go over the top.
If tied for the closest runner-up position, the tied player with
the highest score would win.
I encourage everyone to join the tournament and bring friends.
This is a fast, fun game which can be easily learned. If you
know of anyone who enjoys this type of game, encourage them to
show up for the demo even if they think they'll be busy when
the tournament is actually run.
