Fore! ...

All 75 golfers this year started by playing the lengthened 2002 Augusta National course. Those 39 fortunate enough to finish at or below par made the cut and were permitted to advance to the much shorter Arrowhead Park public course from Minster, Ohio. Chris Kamm and Mark Yoshikawa led the way by going 14 under par for the two courses. They were joined in the Final Four Skins game by Devin Flawd who shot 11 under par and Bruce Maxwell who shot 10 under par (the second year in a row that 10 under became the cut point for advancing to the Skins game.

The Skins game final was played on the new Muirfield Village course in Dublin Ohio, home of the Memorial tournament. Mark jumped out to an early lead when he was the only player to make par on the first hole. Bruce also earned a Skin with a birdie on the second hole, then Mark reclaimed the lead by winning the fourth hole and gaining two more skins. Bruce continued to make it a two man contest by winning the fifth hole. Little did those two know that neither one would win another skin.

The next five holes were all halved, so when Devin birdied the 11th hole he earned six skins and took a commanding lead. That lead became insurmountable when he gained two more skins with a dramatic eagle on the 13th hole. Chris then proceeded to win the last four skins with a birdie on the 17th hole to claim second place and the sole "loser's wood".
