Krosnick Proves To Be The Best Liar

In Liar’s Dice, we ended up with 228 people playing on Friday night. The annual slamming of the cups occurred and the game was off! Shortly thereafter the first person was sang out to the "Nah Nah Nah Nah Hey Hey Goodbye" song and we were well underway.

After the first round we ended up with 36 winners to advance for perfect bracket in the semifinals.

After the semifinals we were left with: Missy Youells, Sarah Morgan, Brian Conlon, Jeff Cornet, Christopher Yaure and Carl Krosnick. At the start of the game, Missy bid first with 9 5’s and then Sarah changed the bid to 2’s in the middle of the first round. Brian changed it back to 5’s on his turn. Jeff pushed out 3 stars and re-rolled the rest of his dice and made it exactly 13 5’s to make everyone lose a die except Brian.

In the next round, Christopher called on 14 2’s and lost 3 of his dice.

In the next round, the bid was 8 5’s and everyone but Sarah, who guessed right, and Christopher, who only had one die left, lost a die because it was exactly 8 5’s in everyone’s cup. Carl started to say there is no way there were 8 5’s under everyone’s cup so he called and everyone lost a die except for Christopher.

Carl continues to say that there is no way that there are 6 6’s and called and Christopher lost his last die and came in 6th place.

Brian called on 4 5’s and lost one die with only 5 dice left in the game.

Towards the end of the game, everyone but Carl had one die left and the bid was exact and Carl was the only one to lose a die.

Carl and Jeff realized the there was only 5 people left and could get wood. In the next round, Sarah was eliminated and got 5th place. In the next round, Jeff had a tough call to make and was feeling the pressure to either call or push to the next person. Brian got 4th place when Jeff rolled a 3 and Carl rolled a star when the bid was at 2 3’s.

Carl and Jeff were super excited when they realized that one of them was going to get second place wood. Carl was feeling pressure when the call was 1 star and asked both Missy and Jeff if they had one star that Missy started the bid on. Carl eventually called and Missy lied and she got 3rd place when no one had a star.

It was down to Carl and Jeff with Carl starting the bid at 1 "5". Jeff didn’t believe that he had a 5 and Carl did and Jeff got 2nd place and Carl got 1st place. When Carl won, he took his blanket and ran around the ballroom, excited that he won the game.

We realized this year that the new edition changes the location of the first start spot. We will be discussing this change with designer Richard Borg at this year’s Buckeye Game Fest. However, we will probably change to everyone using the older version in the semifinals and final by next year.

Is this Las Vegas or Seven Springs with all the dice? Always a good time at late night Liar's Dice.
Not sure I want to be with this group of Liar's! An intense game from the start.
