Scythe Continues Strong Showing At WBC

Scythe’s second year drew 65 players over 3 heats. Heat 1 drew 44 players with 8 five-player games and 1 four-player game. Heat 2 drew another 44 players with 20 new players. It once again ran 8 five-player games and 1 four-player game. Heat 3 saw one new player and 13 total players competing in 1 five-player game and 2 four-player games.

The GM had announced thirty players for the semifinal so 6 five player games were held in the semifinals. The winners of the semifials advancing to a six-player final were Chris Wildes, Jeff Meyer, Rich Meyer, Anthony Lainesse, Steve LeWinter, and Nick Henning. Four of the finalists were laurelists last year including defending champion Steve LeWinter and former GM Nick Henning. Chris Wiles emerged at the top to capture the Scythe Championship.
