The Transatlantic tournament saw over 40 people try their hand at building the most powerful shipping empire. About half of the people had not played the game before. Between the demo and the help of the experienced players at each table, everyone had an enjoyable time.
In the two preliminary heats (13 total tables), the winning scores ranged from 161 to 99. The semi-finals saw an even higher winning score (166) at one of the 4 tables. Sadly, for the second and third place finishers at that table, they out-scored all the other winners but did not advance.
By the finals everyone had a couple of solid games under their belt. I knew it was going to be an interesting match-up to see who was going to become the WBC 2018 Transatlantic shipping mogul and I was not disappointed. When the storms over the Atlantic calmed down and the final tally made the player with the highest preliminary score Lucas Heinz steamed away with a win.
