This was truly the year of the Holy Hand Grenade at Tobruk.

The top four players after the 2022 preliminaries were: #1 – Robert Frisby; #2 Bert Schoose; #3 – Michael Day and #4 - Ed Menzel.

Semifinal: Michael Day – Allies vs Bert Schoose - Axis. Bert wasted no time showing off his prowess in Afrika Korps. Bert was scheduled to play in three finals on Saturday, so he immediately moved up and took a successful 1-1 Holy Hand Grenade attack on Tobruk, which enabled him to quickly overrun North Afrika, sending Michael away from the African desert to his Arizona desert home

Semifinal: Ed Menzel - Axis vs Robert Frisby - Allies. In a more conventional match, Mr. Ed attempted to reduce Tobruk with 1-2 attacks followed by 3-1 attacks. Mr. Ed was unsuccessful and simply resorted to the old faithful 1-1 hand grenade. The Axis thus took Tobruk with a good roll; however, Axis losses slowed the Germans down somewhat and they were not able to capture the home base until May 1942.

Final: Bert Schoose - Axis vs Ed Menzel - Allies. Bert again wasted no time showing off his prowess in Afrika Korps. Bert immediately moved up and took a successful 1-1 Holy Hand Grenade attack on Tobruk, which elicited a quick surrender by Mr. Ed.

Congratulations to Bert on another successful Afrika Korps tournament and thank for all those who attended the WBC despite the fear of covid 19.
