Schlosser Climbs From 2024 6th Place To 2025 Championship!

The 2025 Crokinole tournament qualifiers were structured in Swiss pairings where participants played against 6 different opponents (compared to 5 players the previous year). The top 4 players with the best scores from each Round advanced to the 16-player single elimination bracket. We had a total of 100 new entrants and 158 total entrants who played a total of 443 games. So, a good number of the players returned for more than one Round.

This year showcased a great comeback from the previous year’s 6th place laurelist Thomas Schlosser. Things started off with some challenges in the first Round when he placed 10th and failed to qualify. On top of that, he was unable to make it to the second Round. Later that evening though, he showed up for the third Round and went undefeated with 6 wins in a competitive Roound to earn the top seeded spot in the Single Elimination Rounds. No other player this year qualified with a perfect score.

Thomas went on to win against Steve Alfieri who was the 2023 champion in the Quarterfinal and he had a rematch against David Meyaard in the Semifinal who he played against in his qualifying heat as well. In the Final, Thomas played against Todd Willis who was a newcomer to Crokinole this year. Todd had a great performance leading into the Final and had to overcome both Zachary Morris, the 2024 champion, as well as Brandon Bernard who ended up taking 3rd place this year. As you can see, Thomas came out on top and became the only player to ever have a perfect record with a qualifier all the way through the Final!
