Mitchell Soars In Round Two To Capture Title!

In the three Heats, 39 fleets battled it out and sent eight table winners to the Final. As usual, of the eight qualifiers, only five showed up to compete for the wood. Three previous winners and two relative novices are present at the table.

The first hand started off with most players playing a red card from their dealt hand. and second most players draw red cards. but there was quite a bit of shooting going on, causing 11 ships to be sunk and four to be captured. Of the captured prizes, only two were returned to port for double scoring, the American 32 gun Randolph and British 98 gun Dreadnought. No one was eliminated from the round. Tim ended with 53 points and the lead. It is not usually a good thing, because it puts a target on your back. Michael finished the hand with 49 sinking five ships in second. Randy and Chris were neck and neck at 25 for 3rd and 24 for 4th. Alan was still in the fight with 11.

The second hand was bloodier, with 14 ships sunk and seven captured. Only two of seven captured made it back as prizes for double scoring. Alan captured three, returning the French 36 gun Insurgent for a prize and sinking three for a total of 69 for the round and 80 for the game. Randy got French 74 gun Fougueux back to port for 22 points but no sinks, ending the hand with 46. Chris sunk three for 31 points and a total of 56. Tim managed to sink three for 29 points in the hand and 82 for the game even with the target on his back. However, Michael quietly captured three ships and sank five for 95 points for the hand and 144 for game. Making him the winner.

In the first of the Heats both tables required three hands to get a winner. In the second, all three tables finished in two hands, and in the 3rd Heat one took three hands and two finished in two. of course, the Final was two, making six in two and three in three, making it an average of 2.33. And in all games, a total of 14 people scored 100 or more. Six times a player had their complete fleet destroyed or captured losing them 15 points
