Moffitt Soars In Final Round to Capture Title!

In 2025, people continued to say, "Truck it." Attendance was again reasonably stable. The third Heat, however, had terrible attendance, so the time for that definitely needs to be changed. I will try and coordinate with the Euro block to move it to somewhere with less conflicts next year. I also need to write up more detailed rules about how to fire the Semifinal when not all the Heat winners show up and cover all the reasonable cases.

With the release of the second edition's second expansion, I expect we will switch to that for the Semifinal and Final next year. Intruders continue to be the bane of players during the Final causing the largest swings, as expected. But it's harder for people to practice on them, and the easier availability of the newer edition will probably shift the balance.

The Final this year was again an exercise in pain. In round 1, the Rough Roads was parasites, always a tricky card. Card 1 was then a meteor swarm. David didn't hyperspace, probably a mistake, but Eric drops out after. That was then followed by a seeded battery test, causing more problems. Soon after everyone winds up giving up, with David and Craig at 0, and Ian and Eric at -10.

Round 2 was tough trip, which tends to be either fairly ignorable or absolute pain. Craig got murdered by a combat zone losing half his ship, but otherwise nothing too terrible happened. David took a large lead into the final round.

For the final flight, Bad Luck was the name of the day. It didn't make a tremendous impact, mostly costing a few batteries here and there. However, a hazardous sector 3 card turned up, adding in an invader from deck 4. Ouch. While David had insurance and a large lead, Ian managed to pass him into the race lead just before a lucrative series of pirates. Killing those wound up being a large chuck of cash and combining that with a race win gave Ian over 50 dollars in the last round, pushing him to a victory. The domination of the Moffitt's continues.
