The first round of the Final started off with Betsy due to a random card pull. Betsy started off by using a guard against Ronan. This knocked him out of the round. Dalton used a guard on Betsy; she stayed in the round. Candy was now up, she used a guard on Betsy, this knocked her out of the round. Dalton used his baron against Candy, he had a king and she had the princess, this move winning the round for Dalton.
First move of the second round was Dalton. Dalton played the princess, knocking himself out of the round. He claimed he hates the card and generally refuses to win with her in his hand. Candy used a priest on Ronan. Betsy plays a hand maiden to protect herself for the turn. Ronan used a guard against Candy, guessing if she had a baron, which she did not. Candy played Ronan back, using a guard and guessing if he had the countess, in which he did not. Ronan used another guard guessing that Betsy had the baron this time, in which he did not. Ronan used a prince against Betsy, leaving her with a baron. Candy had a king and won against Ronan’s prince, winning her the round.
The third round started off hot, with Candy princing Dalton’s countess. Betsy attempted to knock out Ronan by using a guard and guessing he had the princess. Fortunately, enough for him, that was not the card in his hand. Ronan used his prince against Betsy’s guard. Dalton used a guard against Candy, guessing she had the princess. Unfortunately, the guess he always goes with did not work, Candy did not have the princess. Candy used her king against Dalton, trading her hand with his. Betsy used a guard to guess Dalton’s prince. Ronan used his priest to look at Cany’s hand. Candy used her baron against Ronan, surprisingly, they had the same hand. Betsy used her priest to look at Candy’s hand. The round ended, Candy won the round by having more points. Leaving her with two hearts.
The fourth round starts off with Candy once more, and she uses a priest to look at Dalton’s hand. Betsy uses a hand maiden, Ronan uses a guard and guessed that Candy had the baron, knocking her out of the round. Dalton uses a hand maiden, then Betsy used a guard in attempt to get Ronan out of the round, fortunately for Ronan he did not have the princess. Ronan princes himself and discards a baron. Dalton plays the countess. Betsy used a guard on Dalton; he did not have the King. Ronan used a priest to look at Dalton’s hand. Dalton used a guard and tried to guess that Betsy had the princess. Fortunately for Ronan, Dalton’s sense for princess was one person off, winning him the round with the princess.
This last round was a bit eventful. Ronan played his countess, Dalton then used a guard against Ronan, he did not have the princess. Candy played a guard against Ronan; he did not have a King either. At this point in the game there was a disturbance. Somehow a bat made it into the Alpine room, not the object, but the animal. It flew around and almost hit my assistant GM Antony on the head. He said, “And as you can see, that just almost hit me in the face.” I am very glad to say I was recording this moment and got that statement on video. The bat flew somewhere, and after about five minutes of laughing, the table got back to the game. Betsy used a priest to look at Candy’s hand. Ronan princes Candy’s baron. Dalton used a guard against Candy with his trusty strategy that once again did not work due to her card not being the princess. Candy used her baron and took Dalton out of the round; he had a hand maiden in his hand. Betsy tried to use a guard against Candy; she did not have the prince. Ronan tried to prince Candy as well; she did not have the king either. Candy princes Betsy, then won by points with the princess, winning her the round and the tournament.
