The auction took place in Lampeter again this year, which was fortunate as the auction store hit a record 1,798 items. (See the list of Auction Sales, by Lot Number.)

The auction sold a total of 582 items with only 1 item not sold. The items sold for just under $19K for an average price of $31.16, 6.5% below last year’s $33.32 average. Twenty-five items sold for $100 or more with The Devil’s Cauldron going for $260, and the Circus Maximus Big Board and a 15 game Columbia lot closely behind at $250 each. Other big dollar items included: War in Europe $210, Whiskey Settlers and Case Blue at $200, and 2 copies of Space Hulk at $180 each. Another 17 items sold between $100 and $150, 57 items sold between $50 and $95, and 116 items between $30 and $49. At the low end of the scale, 61 items sold for less than $10, slightly up from last year’s 55 items.

From a buyer’s perspective, 107 different buyers walked home with games from the auction with 8 buyers spending more than $500 and an additional 28 buyers spending more than $100.

At the auction store, a total of 1,741 items were delivered Monday night. On Tuesday morning, the line started to form at 8 AM in order to be the first in the store at 9 AM. A record 1,395 items sold, although the percent of items sold was down to 80%. The average selling price of the auction store items was $13.47, up slightly from last year’s $12.72. The Store had 109 items selling at the top price of $30, another 279 items over $20, and 539 items between $10 and $19. The quality of the auction store continues to improve as the auction closes earlier each year.

For 2013, the auction staff will make the following changes:

  1. All items in the auction will be required to have a minimum bid of $1
  2. All items, auction and auction store will need to be checked in between 6 and 10 PM Monday night. Thanks to everyone who participated as both buyers and sellers at this year’s event and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
  3. Proceeds from the Auction and Auction Store will be delivered to the sellers via check instead of cash.
