Reiff Back On Top

The 2018 version of the Auction tourney opened with wins by Bruce Monnin, Vassili Kyrkos and Bob Wicks with Bob winning outright, Bruce and Vassili winning after the auction deck ran out.

The second heat saw heat one repeat players Pierre-Luc Ramier and Jeff Mullet finally punching their ticket to the semi-finals. They were joined by perennial favorite Bruce Reiff who won his table by outscoring all of his opponents combined.

Heat three provided two more winners, Cary Morris and Lexi Shea. For Cary it was “third time’s a charm” after losing in the first two heats. Lexi had the highest game score ($9,600) in this year’s heat play.

Heat four added Andrew George and Michael M. to the winner’s list.

Due to several drop-outs, we were forced to play two semi-final tables with the top two advancing to the finals. In the first of the two, Andrew George romped with $10,090 to Cary’s $5950 and Vassili’s $4490. Game two had Bob Wicks edging out Bruce Reiff $6380 to $6200. Lexi finished third and Jeff Mullet fourth.

The finals started with a punt by everyone on 100% cost of antique clocks. Bruce then won two of the next three auctions. Bob then dropped $1250 on a 75% miniature and a buyer’s card. Bob took three of the next four auctions in an attempt (unsuccessful) to fill out his lots.

Turn 12 had Bruce taking a Queen Anne then selling some prints to give him the victory with $7620. Andrew took home second place wood with $4820, Bob finished with $4120 and Cary had $2860.
